You could get up to 200,000 rewards points with one of Finder's highest scoring rewards credit cards.

Many Australians are turning to credit cards to cope with the high cost of living.

While some credit cards are a fairly cheap way to handle your spending (if you pay them off on time), rewards credit cards are a different story altogether.

These cards have annual fees of several hundred dollars or more. But they let you earn rewards points you can redeem for shopping rewards, gift cards or frequent flyer points.

They're not cheap, but if you get a good offer and use the card well, they can be pretty rewarding. Here are Finder's 5 top rewards cards for June based on their Finder Scores.

1. American Express Platinum Card

The American Express Platinum Card has a Finder Score of 9.23.
The American Express Platinum Card is a charge card, meaning the spending limit is flexible but you have to pay off what you spend each month.

This card currently offers 200,000 Amex Membership Rewards Points if you spend $5,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months as a new customer.

You can earn 2.25 points per dollar spent on most purchases, and you get travel, dining and entertainment perks, plus airport lounge access and a $450 yearly travel credit.

The $1,450 annual fee is very high, so this is not a card for everyone. But if you use the many perks and discounts this card has, it's a very lucrative prospect.

2. St.George Amplify Signature

The St.George Amplify Signature has a Finder Score of 9.78.

The Amplify Signature Card is actually 3 identical cards from St.George, Bank of Melbourne and BankSA. They have the same offer of 180,000 bonus Amplify Points if you spend $12,000 in the first 12 months.

You could convert those points to 90,000 Velocity Points.

The card's annual fee is only $199 in the first year, which is quite low for a rewards card.

This card gives you 160,000 bonus ANZ Reward Points if you spend $5,000 on the card in the first 3 months and meet the eligibility criteria (you also get $100 back on your spending too).

You could convert these reward points to 80,000 Velocity Points or get around $700 worth of gift cards.

The annual fee is $375 and you earn 2 rewards points for every dollar you spend.

4. American Express Explorer Credit Card

The American Express Explorer Credit Card has a Finder Score of 9.54.

With this card you get 75,000 bonus Membership Rewards Points when you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months. You also have to be a new customer.

It has an earn rate of 2 rewards points per dollar spent. There is a $395 annual fee, which is offset by a $400 travel credit.

5. Westpac Altitude Rewards Black

The Westpac Altitude Rewards Black has a Finder Score of 9.08.

Westpac's Altitude Rewards Black credit card offers 180,000 bonus Westpac Altitude Rewards Points if you spend $6,000 in the first 120 days after activating the card. You'll have to hold the card for over a year to get all these points.

The annual fee on this card is quite low for the first year at $200 ($295 after that).

You can earn 1.25 points per dollar on most transactions. This card comes with 2 airport lounge passes, complimentary overseas travel and purchase insurance, and Westpac's 24-hour concierge service.

Details of these cards are correct at time of publication and subject to change. All these cards were identified as the "best" cards using the Finder Score, a data-driven methodology that considers rates, fees and card features.

I think the Amex offer looks like a typo “ With this card you get 750,000 bonus Membership Rewards Points when you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months. You also have to be a new customer.” I don’t recall Amex ever offering such a significant sign up bonus and it differs to what’s offered on their website.

      Hi Darren,

That should have been 75,000 – we have fixed it. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
