ALDI ditches two of its cheapest mobile plans – but there’s good news

ALDI Mobile has overhauled its month-to-month plans, axing its $19 and $25 options and introducing a new long-expiry prepaid deal.
We're calling ALDI Mobile's changes the end of cheap mobile plans under $20 that still came with a decent amount of data.
Which mobile plans has ALDI removed?
ALDI has axed its $19 plan with 10GB of data, as well as its $25 plan that included 22GB.
In their place, it has introduced a new $23 plan with 12GB of data, and a 365-day prepaid mobile plan, which is a first for the telco.
Here's a look at its lineup before we give a verdict.
| Price | Data allowance | Features |
|---|---|---|
| $23 per 30 days | 12GB | 4G, unlimited data rollover |
| $29 per 30 days | 29GB | 4G/5G, unlimited data rollover, unlimited calls and texts to 20 selected countries + 100 minutes and 50 texts to 30 additional countries |
| $39 per 30 days | 75GB | 4G/5G, unlimited data rollover, unlimited calls and texts to 20 selected countries + 200 minutes and 50 texts to 30 additional countries |
| $49 per 30 days | 120GB | 4G/5G, unlimited data rollover, unlimited calls and texts to 20 selected countries + 300 minutes and 50 texts to 30 additional countries |
| $59 per 30 days | 175GB | 4G/5G, unlimited data rollover, unlimited calls and texts to 20 selected countries + 400 minutes and 50 texts to 30 additional countries |
| $289 per 365 days | 300GB | 4G/5G, unlimited data rollover |
Are ALDI Mobile's plans still worth it?
First, here's how its month-to-month plans stack up.
Calling time on the $19 plan isn't surprising. There are only a handful of plans under $20 a month, and even those come with a barely usable amount of data.
ALDI was offering a generous 10GB in comparison, so it's disappointing to see it go, especially for light data users.
However, it's doing what other mobile providers have been doing - reassessing plans and going with the flow of the industry.
The new $23 plan sits in a tricky spot when you could previously get almost double the data for just $2 more on the now-axed $25 plan.
It's not a bad offer if you don't need more than 12GB, and it even includes unlimited data rollover.
However, Everyday Mobile offers 22GB for $25 a month, so it definitely pays to compare.
All of its other plans are good value for money, especially with the features outlined. It's also currently offering double data on the first recharge on some of its plans.

What about its new 365-day prepaid plan?
You're roughly paying $25 a month for 25GB of data, making it much better value than ALDI's entry-level monthly option. Plus, you get access to its 5G network too, which is rare on 365-day plans.
It also fits our $1 per GB benchmark.
All in all, for light users, the loss of the $19 plan might sting. But overall, ALDI's lineup remains competitive - particularly for those considering its new long-expiry plan.
