Have you ever been a member of any super fund?

Firths only accepts you if you have been a member of a super fund. If you don't currently have super, it doesn't mean you're not eligible. Even though you may not have a current super fund, you might still have had a super fund in the past when you ceased work, which means you likely had cover.

If you are a member of different funds, you might have cover under each of these funds with the potential to make multiple claims. Firths can investigate to see if you do have cover and can make these claims.

When did your injury or illness occur?

For Firth to accept your case, you must have been unable to work for at least 3 months. In a nutshell, you can claim if an injury or illness prevented you from working for 3 or 6 months, depending on your super fund

While Firth operates out of Sydney, they accept claims from all states. Firth only accepts people between 18 and 63 years old.

Am I eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)?

The NDIS provides Australians under 65 years of age with financial support to comfortably live their lives. To qualify, you need to be permanently disabled and a permanent Australian resident. In many cases, the NDIS does not cover all your expenses so it's worth looking into TPD insurance as well.

What if I have more than one TPD policy?

You can make multiple claims if you have more than one TPD policy. It's common for Australians to have more than one superannuation funds that include separate TPD insurance policies. If you are unsure if your superannuation policies include TPD cover, you can contact Firths to find out.

Can I make a workers' compensation claim and TPD claim?

Yes, you're still able to make a TPD claim that should not impact your worker's compensation claim. Workers compensation is a statutory benefit, meaning your TPD insurance is not conditional on you only receiving compensation from a single institution.
