How to apply
You should first ensure that you satisfy the criteria to open an account:
- Minimum age. You need to be 16 years or older.
- Residency requirements. You must be a permanent resident of Australia.
- Depository requirements. You will need to deposit at least a month to avoid paying the monthly service fee of $5.
You will also need to provide a wide range of information and documentation to support your application, including:
- Your driver's licence. Supply your current Australian driver's licence.
- Your passport. A valid Australian passport is important to prove your identity.
- Your Medicare card. Australian Unity will also require your Medicare details in order to verify your identity.
What happens after I submit my application?
It shouldn't take any more than five minutes to complete and submit your application. The online application form can be completed with one named signatory only. We suggest you contact Australian Unity directly regarding having 2 signatories on the account – they might have a separate form for this.
