felix’s unlimited data mobile plan gets big speed boost: What’s the catch?

felix mobile has doubled the download speed on its unlimited data plan to 40Mbps, and there's up to a $60 discount on offer too.
felix mobile made a name for itself back in 2020 with a single unlimited data mobile plan.
While it has expanded its lineup since, the unlimited data plan still remains widely popular on Finder.
There are no data caps at all, but until now, the main catch was a 20Mbps speed cap throughout.
That's just changed, with felix doubling download speeds to 40Mbps. This is good enough for most everyday online tasks such as streaming Netflix in high definition, video calls, social media and general browsing.
Here's a look at the prices of all its plans that come with 5G access:
| Plan | Price | |
|---|---|---|
| felix unlimited data plan | $20 a month for 3 months, then $40 a month ongoing | |
| felix 25GB plan | $12.50 a month for 3 months, then $25 a month ongoing | |
| felix 50GB plan | $15 a month for 3 months, then $30 a month ongoing |
felix's data-capped plans offer endless data, where your speeds are reduced to 1.5Mbps if you use up your data allowance.
It also plants a tree each month for every active subscription.
Is felix mobile's unlimited data plan worth it?
felix is the only mobile phone provider in Australia that comes the closest to offering a truly unlimited data mobile plan.
Other providers usually give you a set amount of data each month, then slow your speeds to anywhere between 256Kbps and 2Mbps once you've used it up.
I've tested its plan with the 20Mbps speed cap and had zero issues with speed, but I'm also just your average user. The speed boost will definitely help, though.
That promo offer is great, but $40 a month after 3 months can be a little steep if you don't actually need unlimited data.
Check your past bills to see how much you use, then make the call. For heavy data users, it can definitely offer peace of mind.
What about felix mobile's network coverage?
The last thing to note is that the plan runs on the Vodafone network.
While Vodafone doubled its network coverage as of January 2025 to better serve customers in regional Australia, coverage may still be spotty or lacking in some areas.
Check the coverage map on felix's website before signing up if you're unsure.
The good thing is there's no lock-in contract, so you can test the plan for a month and see how you go.
