How much does the iPhone 15 cost?

Prices for the iPhone 15 line-up start at:

  • $1,499 for iPhone 15
  • $1,649 for iPhone 15 Plus
  • $1,849 for iPhone 15 Pro
  • $2,199 for iPhone 15 Pro Max

Apple unveiled its next-generation tech at its hotly anticipated event on 13 September 2023, announcing it was finally ditching the Lightning cable in favour of the USB-C.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus now get the Dynamic Display Island, A16 Bionic chip and 48 megapixel main cameras. The iPhone 15 Pro models will boast titanium for a durable and light finish, camera upgrades and A17 Pro, which Apple claims to be its fastest smartphone chip to date.

And yes, you can still slot in a SIM card as you normally would - Apple hasn't ditched it in Australia just yet.

Vodafone iPhone 15 plans

Vodafone is flaunting the cheapest iPhone 15 plans, with the following deals available:

  • Get $150 bonus trade-in credit when you purchase the new iPhone 15 and trade in an older phone. For example, if you traded in an iPhone 14 Pro Max 1TB in good working condition, your total trade-in value would be $1,500.
  • Score double the data on any of Vodafone's SIM only plans. For example, you can get 80GB for $45 a month instead of the usual 40GB. The double data offer will last as long as you stick to the plan.

If you pair your iPhone 15 with a Vodafone plan, you'll also get:

  • No excess charges. Your speeds will be capped at 2Mbps once you've used up your data allowance
  • Access to its 5G network if it's available in your area
  • Unlimited international texts
  • $5 a day roaming to use your regular SIM only plan overseas

Optus iPhone 15 plans

For this year's iPhone launch, Optus has the following on offer:

  • Get yourself a Mastercard digital gift card if you have when you trade in a phone in good working condition by 31 October 2023. This can be used across selected stores on The Card Network's website. For example, trading in the iPhone 14 Pro Max (512GB or 1TB) could get you a gift card worth $1,200.
  • You can pair your iPhone 15 with the discounted Optus Plus Promo Plan. That's 500GB data for just $69 a month for the first 12 months and $240 worth of savings. After a year, the price will revert back to $89 a month.
  • Optus also offers price match guarantee on 5G phones. If you find a cheaper iPhone 15 model from another retailer that's in stock and not tied to a lock-in offer, it'll match the price.

Existing Optus customers also have the option to buy the iPhone 15 outright.

Signing up to an Optus plan will also give you access to:

  • Optus Sport at a discounted price. You'll pay $6.99 per month instead of the usual $24.99
  • Its 5G network if it's available in your area
  • Endless data. Your speeds will be capped at 1.5Mbps once you've chewed through your data allowance
  • Data sharing across eligible linked accounts
  • Unlimited international calls and texts to 35 countries (on its Medium plan and above)
  • Up to 10% in savings when you bundle 3 or more subscriptions via Optus SubHub

Telstra iPhone 15 plans

Australia's largest telco has got a couple of enticing iPhone 15 offers:

  • Telstra's offering $350 in bonus trade-in credit if you have an eligible device in good working condition to trade up. For example, if you trade in iPhone 13 Pro Max 512GB you could get up to $1,250 in total trade-in credit.
  • If you're a high data user, Telstra has discounted its Upfront Premium plan by $20 a month. For the first 12 months you only need pay $75 a month for 300GB. The price reverts back to $95 a month after the first year. However, you'll end up saving $240 overall.

Existing Telstra customers also have the option to buy any of the iPhone 15 models outright.

With a Telstra mobile plan, you can expect:

  • 5G network access if it's available in your area
  • No excess data charges. Your speeds will be capped at 1.5Mbps once you've used up your data allowance
  • 4-month access to Spotify Premium for new subscribers, 2-month subscription to BINGE for new customers, and 3-month subscription to Apple TV+ for both new and returning subscribers
  • Unlimited international texts to all countries and at least 30 minutes of free calls
  • Carbon neutral plans at no extra cost

When is the iPhone 15 available to purchase in Australia?

The iPhone 15 line-up is officially on sale and available to be dispatched as of 22 September 2023.

If you're in the market for a new phone, the launch or official sale period is usually a great time to take advantage of any offers and get more bang for buck.

What is the best iPhone 15 plan in Australia?

The best iPhone 15 plan will depend on your budget and requirements.

Keeping trade-in offers aside, Vodafone's iPhone 15 plans are the cheapest. However, its network coverage can be a bit lacking especially for those in rural or regional Australia.

Optus offers mid-range coverage and mid-range pricing but you do get a sweet discount on Optus Sport.

Telstra comes out as the most expensive but offers the best network coverage out of the lot. This can be important given you'll be signed up with any of the providers for 12-, 24- or 36 months.

If you throw in iPhone 15 deals into the mix, Vodafone and Telstra come out on top mostly because you can save money with their bonus trade-in offers.

Bottom line: Compare all the plan details each telco offers apart from price and sign up to the one that hits your brief the best.
