How to use and check your Finder digital Visa gift card

Everything you need to activate, spend and troubleshoot your digital Visa gift card.

Key takeaways

  • Your reward is usually a digital Visa gift card you can spend anywhere Visa is accepted online, or in-store via a digital wallet.
  • Once activated, your digital Visa gift card is valid for 3 years
  • Each reward is a separate gift card with its own number and balance, so a second reward won't top up the balance of the first.

When you claim a Finder Reward you'll usually get a digital Visa gift card. It works anywhere Visa is accepted, whether you're paying online or tapping in-store through a digital wallet. This page walks you through activating the card, spending it, and sorting out the most common hiccups people run into.

How do I use my Finder digital Visa card?

Follow these steps to get spending:

  1. Find your digital Visa gift card details. Once your Finder Reward is ready, you'll be able to claim your digital Visa gift card in the Rewards dashboard of your Finder account. We'll also email you when it's ready to claim.
  2. Activate your card. After you claim your Finder Reward, we'll send you an email containing your digital Visa gift card activation code. You'll have 90 days from the date you claim to activate your card.
  3. Start spending. Once your digital Visa gift card is activated, you can use it online by entering your card details at checkout. Shopping in-store? Add your card to Apple Pay or Google Wallet and tap to pay.
  4. Check your balance. Want to see how much you have left? You can check your balance anytime through Blackhawk's cardholder portal at myprepaidcentre.com.au. You'll just need your card number.

Good to know: Finder Rewards digital Visa gift cards are distributed by Blackhawk Network (Australia) Pty Ltd. Blackhawk's terms and conditions apply.

Once activated, the card is valid for 3 years, so plan to spend it within that time.

Why isn't my digital Visa gift card working, and how do I fix it?

Most problems have a quick fix. Here are the ones people hit most often:

  • Payment declined online due to entering the cardholder name. Some online checkouts and terminals decline digital prepaid gift cards as their security checks require you to enter the name on the card. Try entering your own name or 'Cardholder' as a proxy; if that doesn't work, you'll need to use the gift card elsewhere.
  • Payment declined online due to insufficient funds. Check that the balance covers the full amount, since a gift card often can't be split across two payment methods. Also confirm the card is activated. If an online payment still fails, adding the card to Apple Pay or Google Wallet and paying in-store by tap often works.
  • You have issues adding it to a digital wallet. You may need to add the card manually by copying the card number, expiry and CVV into Apple Pay or Google Wallet.
  • The activation link doesn't work. Try a different browser, or reopen the link from your original claim email. If it still fails, contact Finder Customer Care.
  • You have more than one reward and you're not sure how much you've spent on each digital Visa gift card. Each reward is issued as its own gift card with a separate number and balance, so it's best to spend each card individually rather than expecting a single combined total.
