Prepaid travel card

The Bank of Melbourne Global Currency card (Discontinued) is a prepaid Visa card, which you can load with up to five currencies at a time. The following 11 currencies are available:

  • Australian dollars (AUD)
  • Canadian dollars (CAD)
  • Euros (EUR)
  • Great British pound (GBP)
  • Hong Kong dollars (HKD)
  • Japanese yen (JPY)
  • New Zealand dollars (NZD)
  • Singapore dollars (SGD)
  • South African rand (ZAR)
  • Thai baht (THB)
  • US dollars (USD)

You can then use your card to spend in 180+ countries wherever Visa is accepted. When you load Australian dollars on the card and move them into one of the supported currency wallets, you can lock them in at the current exchange rate. This means you can take advantage of competitive exchange rates as they arise and also avoid fluctuating rates while you're travelling.

When you spend or withdraw cash in a currency loaded on the card, you'll also avoid the usual 3% foreign transaction fee.

Available to existing Bank of Melbourne customers, the Global Currency Card (Discontinued) doesn't charge a card issue fee or a loading fee when you're transferring money from another Bank of Melbourne account. If you withdraw cash from any of the 50,000 Global ATM Alliance partner ATMs, you can also save on withdrawal fees.

The Global Currency Card (Discontinued) also comes with a complimentary additional card that you can use if your primary card is lost, stolen or damaged while you're travelling.
