Telstra's coming in hot with a limited supply of the latest Xbox Series X, which is sold out across most of Australia.

A supply drought has hit Xbox Series X stocks worldwide, with new consoles forecast to be hard to find until later this year.

But telecom giant Telstra has a solution for Australians – a deal on a hard-to-find batch of Xbox Series X models for both new and existing customers, bundled with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

You can add the X Box Series X for $46 a month over 24 months ($1,109 total) or the more available Series S model for $33 a month ($792 total). However, stock is limited to one console per customer.

All you need to access this deal is a Telstra NBN or postpaid mobile plan.

How does the Telstra Xbox Series X deal work?

  1. Sign up to Telstra. If you're an existing broadband or postpaid mobile customer, you're good to go. Otherwise, pick up a new Telstra plan. You can check out Telstra's NBN plans here or its mobile plans here.
  2. Choose your model. Choose from the more powerful Xbox Series X at $46 a month or the more affordable Series S at $33 a month, both paid off over 24 months.
  3. Activate your Game Pass. When you sign in to your Microsoft account on your new console, there will be a "claim it!" icon. Hit this to activate your subscription.

The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate lasts for 24 months and includes the Xbox Live Gold feature. It will allow you to play all your favourite multiplayer games online. You'll also have access to over 100 games and an EA Play subscription.

Is this Telstra Xbox Series X deal worth it?

If you're someone who's super keen on getting the latest Xbox Series X, then Telstra's latest offer is your best bet.

Here's a quick breakdown of the pros and cons if you're still on the fence:

Pros

  • Scoring an Xbox in Australia is hard due to limited supply.
  • Discount on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate ($28 over 24 months with Series X, $90 with Series S).
  • Pair your Xbox with a high-speed NBN plan.

Cons

  • You'll have to sign up to a Telstra plan. The cheapest mobile plan will set you back $1,320 over 24 months. The cheapest NBN plan will cost $1,800. These prices are in addition to the cost of the console.
  • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate access will be revoked if you cancel your plan.

What happens to my Xbox if I cancel my Telstra plan?

Two things happen if you cancel your Telstra NBN or mobile plan before 24 months have passed:

  • You'll immediately be charged the remaining value of your console (roughly $21 a month remaining for Series S, $31 a month remaining on Series X).
  • Your Game Pass Ultimate will be cancelled the following month, which includes your Xbox Live Gold access and EA Play subscription.

The good thing is you'll own the console outright and be able to switch to another provider if you want to.

What are the specs of the Xbox Series X?

Here's a quick overview of the Series X specs if you're keen to jump on the Telstra deal:
