Thousands of households and small businesses across regional Australia can now access up to 100Mbps speeds on NBN's fixed wireless network for the first time.

The NBN Co's announced that network upgrades for 24,000 homes and small businesses are now complete.

This is part of its roadmap to enable upgrades for 750,000 premises by the end of 2024.

Here's the number of locations that can access faster internet state-by-state:

  • NSW: 6,700
  • QLD: 6,500
  • SA: 2,200
  • TAS: 1,200
  • VIC: 5,900
  • WA: 1,800

According to the NBN Co, all 24,000 locations are currently within the NBN satellite footprint and selected based on their proximity to existing NBN fixed wireless towers.

You can enter your address on the NBN Co's website directly to find out if your property is ready to be connected.

Here are some of our favourite plans you can sign up to:

1. Dodo NBN 50 Unlimited Comparison Exclusive

If you sign up with Finder directly, you get a discount on Dodo NBN 50 plan. It's also currently the cheapest NBN 50 plan on Finder.

It'll cost you $53.95 a month for the first 6 months for unlimited data and then $75 a month after.

You do have the option to BYO modem or buy one from Dodo directly for $88, which is well below the average on Finder.

In return, you'll get maximum 50Mbps typical evening speeds when the network is at its busiest (7-11pm).

2. Tangerine NBN Fixed Wireless XL Boost

Tangerine's also running a promotion on its NBN 50 plan that comes with unlimited data and 50Mbps typical evening speeds.

Pay $54.90 a month for the first 6 months, then $69.90 a month ongoing.

You can BYO modem or purchase one for $179.90 which is a bit on the pricier end.

However, Tangerine offers a 14-day NBN trial so if you decide you're unhappy with its services you get a full refund when you cancel within 2 weeks.

3. iPrimus Premium NBN100 Unlimited 1 Month

Want faster speeds? iPrimus, winner of the 2022 Finder Retail Award for Best Rated Broadband Provider, is running a promo on its unlimited NBN 100 plan.

You can BYO modem or get one from iPrimus for free if you stay connected for 12 months (worth $120).

You can always cancel your plan earlier as long as you pay off the remaining cost of the modem.

In case your address isn't included in today's announcement, you can sign up to an NBN Sky Muster Plus plan for faster internet speeds and 100% unmetered data under the NBN Co's latest trial.

The results from the trial will determine official feature updates to its satellite products in late 2023.
