👋 Hey there! We've partnered with Medibank for this article. So we'll be using a range of Medibank hospital and extras product features as examples throughout. However, you should always do your own research. Make sure to read the product T&Cs before you sign up for any insurance product.
1. Online Doctor consultations
Whether you need a medical certificate for work, a straightforward prescription, a referral or some advice on your current health – sometimes you just need to speak to a doctor.
The good news is that this can be straightforward with Medibank. Members with eligible hospital cover may be able to access Online Doctor consultations* via phone or video with Amplar Health. Eligibility requirements, consultation limits and service availability apply.
Services like this can let you get the non-emergency support you need.
2. 24/7 Mental health support
Mental health is different for everyone, and sometimes you might need some unexpected support.
That's where being able to chat to a mental health professional on a 24/7 basis can be very handy.
Medibank health insurance members have access to a mental health professional over the phone or online at no extra cost**. These sessions are a safe space where you can ask questions about a range of mental health concerns for you or a loved one and get guidance on what you can do next.
3. Health Concierge
If you've got a hospital visit coming up (e.g. for surgery) or will need to visit one on a regular basis for treatment, you'll probably find that you have a lot of questions.
How does it work? Who do you need to speak to? What support is available?
There's where Medibank's Health Concierge service can help.+
If you're an eligible Medibank member with Hospital Cover, you can get in touch with a Health Concierge. In fact, if you've got an upcoming hospital visit for specific reasons then the Health Concierge will actually reach out to you.
4. Support before, during and after hospital treatment
Hospital visits can be confusing and stressful. With this in mind, Medibank offers a range of information on its website and in its app to help you prepare before your visit, as well as looking after yourself while you're there and when you get home. We'll cover some of these resources in more detail below.
There are other ways that Medibank can assist, too. For example, eligible members can access a range of services through Medibank at Home in place of or while they recover from a hospital treatment, depending on their cover and doctor's advice.
Medibank was a big winner in the 2026 Finder Awards.
