Telstra is shaking up prices on its NBN and postpaid plans, with a mix of good and bad news for both existing customers and those thinking of signing up.

Changes are coming on 1 July 2025, with most of Telstra's postpaid mobile and NBN plans going up by $3 to $5 a month.

But there are a couple of exceptions...

Let's talk internet prices first.

Telstra price increase for NBN plans

Telstra will be raising the price of its NBN 25, NBN 50 and NBN 100 plans by $3 to $4 a month.

Its NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans will see price reductions of $1 and $11 a month, respectively.

There will be no changes to its satellite or 5G home internet or satellite plans.

Speed tierCurrent pricePrice from 1 JulyPrice difference
NBN 25$89$93$4
NBN 50$105$109$4
NBN 100$110$113$3
NBN 250$130$129-$1
NBN 1000$150$139-$11

These changes aren't surprising, given NBN recently announced hikes to its wholesale pricing, which also take effect on 1 July.

These affect providers, who may or may not pass on changes to customers.

Telstra isn't alone in announcing NBN price changes.

  • There are a few popular provider who have already raised prices this year, including TPG, iiNet, Vodafone, Leaptel, Sumo, Exetel and Superloop.
  • And most recently, Tangerine raised the prices of its NBN 25, NBN 50 and NBN 100 plans by $2 to $3 a month, while reducing the cost of its NBN 1000 plan by $5 a month.
  • Belong will be raising the price of its NBN 25 and NBN 50 plans by $2 and $3 a month, respectively, from 1 July.

The common theme seems to be that lower speed tiers are being affected the most.

Telstra price increase for postpaid plans

Its basic and essential plans will go up by $5 a month. The price of its premium plan will remain the same.

Interestingly, there are no bumps in data allowances this time around.

Telstra Upfront Basic$6550GB$70$5
Telstra Upfront Essential$75180GB$80$5
Telstra Upfront Premium$99300GBN/AN/A

Again, Telstra announcing price changes to its postpaid mobile plans isn't surprising.

Last year, it raised prices by $3 to $4 a month. The year before that, it was $3 to $6 a month.

The silver lining is that there won't be any changes to its prepaid plans.

"We're making these changes to help us invest more to improve our mobile network performance and experience, including the reliability and security of our services and continue to ensure we have local support on hand," Telstra said in a media release.

NBN Co is also increasing the price they charge us for wholesale internet, and this is another driver of the changes we're making.
