NBN price hikes are coming: How much more will you pay?

NBN wholesale prices will rise by up to 3% from 1 July 2025, and if history repeats, providers could pass it on to households. (Hint: some already have, sort of.)
NBN Co's annual pricing changes are limited to the rise in the consumer price index.
This time they'll go up by $0 and $1.71 per month, depending on the speed tier.
This is slightly lower than the largest increase of $2.52 last year on NBN 50, the most popular speed tier in Australia for everyday use.
What do the NBN price changes mean for you?
It's up to the providers whether they'll pass on the rising costs to customers.
Last year saw a mix of changes, with some providers increasing prices on slower plans while lowering the cost of faster ones.
This time around, it's anybody's guess, but we'll likely start seeing price changes trickling in between now and July.
In fact, some popular providers have already raised prices this year, including TPG, iiNet, Vodafone, Leaptel, Sumo, and, more recently, Exetel and Superloop.
Depending on the speeds, prices have gone up by $3 to $20 a month, with the biggest hikes coming from Sumo.
Here's a look at price changes for NBN 50 and NBN 100 plans, the latter following closely behind in popularity.
NBN 50
Plan | Old monthly price | New monthly price |
---|---|---|
Sumo | $85 | $103 |
TPG | $79.99 | $84.99 |
Vodafone | $80 | $89 |
Leaptel | $79.95 | $82.95 |
Exetel | $79.99 | $85 |
Superloop | $81 | $85 |
NBN 100
Plan | Old monthly price | New monthly price |
---|---|---|
Sumo | $105 | $125 |
iiNet | $89.99 | $94.99 |
Vodafone | $90 | $94 |
Leaptel | $89.95 | $92.95 |
Exetel NBN 100/20 | $84.99 | $95 |
Exetel NBN 100/40 | $94.99 | $99 |
Superloop NBN 100/20 | $89 | $95 |
Superloop NBN 100/40 | $95 | $99 |
It's unclear whether these providers will make further changes in response to NBN's upcoming wholesale price hike or if they've already preempted it.

The upside to the news of NBN prices going up is that there are some seriously good internet deals out there right now.
Providers are offering big discounts for 6 to 12 months, so it really pays to compare and find deals lower than the monthly average we just listed.
