This acquisition will make Aussie Broadband the third largest NBN provider in Australia.

Aussie Broadband will take over AGL's mobile, broadband, and voice services, with migration to occur in the first half of 2027.

I'm an AGL customer. How will I be impacted?

If you have a mobile, broadband and/or voice service with AGL, don't worry, these are more behind-the-scenes changes.

Here's the gist of what to know:

  • AGL will continue to sell mobile and broadband plans, including those bundled with energy.
  • So far, plan, pricing and whatever offer you're on will stay the same.
  • Once the migration is complete, your service will be backed by Aussie Broadband's network and customer support expertise.
  • For context, Aussie Broadband is usually a crowd favourite for customer service. It's won Roy Morgan and other industry awards, just for that. It was also voted the Most Loved NBN Provider at Finder's 2025 Customer Satisfaction Awards.

Around 218,000 NBN connections, 144,000 mobile lines, and 46,000 voice services are included in the migration.

Why is this a big deal for Aussie Broadband?

In August last year, we reported that Aussie Broadband would sell its sub-brand Buddy Telco to Tangerine.

At the same time, Aussie Broadband entered a six-year agreement to sell wholesale NBN services to both Tangerine and More.

Under this deal, Tangerine and More will continue to use the Aussie Broadband network to deliver their internet services.

All of this will help Aussie Broadband become the third largest NBN provider in the country.

"FY27 is set to be a year of significant growth for Aussie Broadband as we migrate approximately 350,000 broadband and mobile connections from AGL," Aussie Broadband Group CEO Brian Maher said in a media release.

"[This is] in addition to the 290,000 More/Tangerine NBN connections to be migrated in the current financial year, becoming the third largest NBN service provider."
