Apple One now free with new iPhones: What is it and is it worth it?

You'll get Apple One for $0 for the first three months, whether you're buying the latest iPhone 17 or an older model.

Some of you may be familiar with Apple One, others not so much, if a quick poll around my office of iPhone users is anything to go by.

If you're wondering the same thing, let's tackle the 'what' first.

What is Apple One?

Apple One bundles up to 6 Apple subscriptions for one price, lower than what you'd pay for each service separately. These include:

  • iCloud+: $1.49 a month for 50GB, $4.49 a month for 200GB, $14.99 a month for 2TB
  • Apple TV+: $15.99 a month
  • Apple Music: $19.99 a month
  • Apple Arcade: $9.99 a month
  • Apple Fitness+: $14.99 a month
  • Apple News+: $19.99 a month

There are three tiers of Apple One bundles on offer.

Individual bundle - $24.95 a month

This includes iCloud+ (50GB), Apple TV+, Apple Music and Apple Arcade. It'll save you $15.51 a month.

Family bundle (share with up to 5 people) - $31.95 a month

This includes iCloud+ (200GB), Apple TV+, Apple Music and Apple Arcade. It'll save you $18.51 a month.

Premier bundle (share with up to 5 people) - $49.95 a month

This includes iCloud+ (2TB), Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+ and Apple News+. It'll save you $45.99 a month.

Is Apple One worth it?

It all comes down to which Apple subscriptions you use or plan to use.

A lot of Reddit users say they cut costs by sharing plans with family, or by swapping services like Spotify for Apple Music to take advantage of the bundles.

But if you prefer to cycle through subscriptions - say, you only grab Apple TV+ when there's a new season of something you love - Apple One might not make sense.
