If you are getting hit with high credit card interest rates and can't seem to get it paid off, a 0% balance transfer offer could be a lifeline. Here are 5 of the best offers, based on fees and length of balance transfer period.
1. St.George Vertigo Card
The St.George Vertigo Card has a Finder Score of 9.9.
Based on the Finder Score, it's the best balance transfer offer on the market. It offers 0% for 24 months, with a low 1% balance transfer fee. And the annual fee is only $55.
The BankSA Vertigo Card and the Bank of Melbourne Vertigo Cards have the same offer as the St.George card, and therefore the same Finder Scores.
2. Virgin Money Anytime Rewards Credit - Balance Transfer Offer
The Virgin Money Anytime Rewards Credit Card - Balance Transfer Offer has a Finder Score of 9.78.
This card also offers a 0% balance transfer for 24 months with a 1% balance transfer fee. While you won't earn Velocity Points with this card, you will get Virgin Money Points (which you can convert to Velocity Points and use for other things).
It does have a higher annual fee than some of the other high-scoring cards.
3. Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card - Balance Transfer Offer
The Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card - Balance Transfer Offer has a Finder Score of 9.78.
Now if you do want to earn Velocity Points on your news spending (while paying off your balance transfer, don't forget!), you can do that with this card.
And you also get a 0% balance transfer offer for 24 months with a 1% balance transfer fee and a $149 annual fee.
A $129 annual Virgin gift card helps balance out that annual fee too.
4. Westpac Low Rate Card
The Westpac Low Rate Card has a balance transfer Finder Score of 9.74.
This card has one of the longer balance transfer offers at 26 months, but with a slightly higher 2% balance transfer fee.
This is a low rate card, which means a low purchase rate on new spending and a low $59 annual fee. A good, low frills balance transfer option.
5. ANZ Low Rate Credit Card
The ANZ Low Rate Credit Card has a Finder Score of 9.6 in the balance transfer category. The card offers a 0% balance transfer for 28 months, one of the longest offers you can get.
But the balance transfer fee is 3%, which is on the higher side. Luckily the annual fee is $0 for the first year.
