Samsung Galaxy S26 Australian release date locked in – here’s the scoop

It's official. Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S26 series on 26 February 2027.
The rumours have been put to bed as Samsung sends out invites for its Galaxy Unpacked event, which will be held in San Francisco.
Those of us in Australia will need to set our alarms for 5am AEDT.
You'll be able to stream the live event on Samsung's website or its YouTube channel.
We'll be sharing updates on Finder in real time - so even if you want to have a sleep-in, don't worry. We'll have the tea ready for when you're up and about.
You can also register on Samsung Unpacked to get access to exclusive benefits ahead of time, such as a $50 Galaxy Eco-Voucher to use during pre-order.
The only teaser we have from Samsung so far is this:
"Join us as we unveil Samsung's newest Galaxy innovations – marking a new phase in the era of AI as intelligence becomes truly personal and adaptive."
Will the Samsung Galaxy S26 series cost more?
We mentioned in our Galaxy S26 rumours roundup last month that there's a good chance Samsung will make its flagship series more expensive this year.
This is largely due to rising manufacturing costs, particularly for storage.
However, a more recent report from Android Authority claims only some models will see a price hike.
The Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus could be more expensive than last year's models, while the S26 Ultra will be priced the same.
Here's a look at last year's pricing for the Galaxy S25 lineup to give you a benchmark:
| Model | Price |
|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy S25 256GB | $1,399 |
| Samsung Galaxy S25 512GB | $1,599 |
| Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus 256GB | $1,699 |
| Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus 512GB | $1,899 |
| Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra 256GB | $2,149 |
| Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra 512GB | $2,349 |
| Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra 1TB | $2,749 |

What else do we know about the Galaxy S26 lineup?
Based on the leaks we've seen, it doesn't look like Samsung will be reinventing the wheel with its new lineup.
According to engadget, "the biggest difference will likely be to internal components like the screens, chips and camera sensors that Samsung uses."
It's also confirmed that Samsung will introduce a new privacy screen to the S26 Ultra, so you won't need to slap on an external cover.
However, instead of dimming or restricting the whole screen, it will use targeted privacy controls to protect only the content that actually needs to stay private.
We're just days away from the launch, so the wait won't be much longer!
