You don't need to spend more money or buy things you don't actually want just to earn more points. When used smartly, Qantas Points can be a bargain hunter's best friend.

Here are a handful of ways you can earn Qantas Points on everyday expenses that you're probably already paying for.

Switch your phone plan

Qantas Frequent Flyer and Optus have recently partnered to release 3 SIM Only Plans with generous rewards. Importantly, they also come at multiple price points.

Starting at $39 a month, the plans offer lump-sum bonus Qantas Points plus points per $1 spent on your monthly plan fee.

If a new customer was to take out and stay on the $79 plan for a year, they could earn 20,000 bonus Qantas Points (as long as they are a Frequent Flyer member). That's enough to fly return from Sydney to Byron, or one way from Sydney to Queenstown.1

Switch your energy provider

Switching energy providers is a quick way to earn big Qantas Points. Frequent Flyer members who switch to Red Energy on the Qantas Red Saver plan can earn 10,000 bonus Qantas Points for switching electricity and 5,000 bonus Qantas Points for switching gas.

Customers can also earn 2 Qantas Points per $1 spent on their electricity and gas bills when paid on time.

Consider a Qantas Points earning credit card

Signing up to a Qantas-affiliated credit card is one of the quickest ways to earn Qantas Points on the ground.

Consider a credit card with a big Qantas Points lump sum, or choose a card with no or low ongoing annual fees – either way you will still earn points on your everyday spend.

There are a bunch of extra benefits to choose from as well including Complimentary Lounge Invitations or a $450 Qantas Travel Credit.

As with all credit products, make sure you understand what’s right for you, be responsible and pay off your balance every month.

Link your Everyday Rewards

If you collect points through Everyday Rewards, you can choose to convert them into Qantas Points.

Formerly Woolworths Rewards, members can earn Everyday Rewards points shopping in-store or online from a variety of stores including Woolies, Big W, BWS, Marley Spoon and more.

Every 2,000 Everyday Rewards points collected will then automatically convert into 1,000 Qantas Points.
