Apple iPhone 17e launches with changes you’ll love, for the same price

Prices for the iPhone 17e start at $999, but now with double the storage.
The iPhone 17e isn't a dramatic departure from last year's model.
However, the upgrades are still worth highlighting, especially when the price hasn't budged.
Here's a look at what's new with the iPhone 17e
- The iPhone 17e now starts with 256GB of storage for $999. Last year, the same storage cost $1,199.
- You can get 512GB for $1,399.
- The design and camera specs are the same as the iPhone 16e, with a single 48-megapixel rear camera, 12-megapixel selfie camera and a 6.1-inch notched display.
- Based on rumours, we had been expecting a Dynamic Island instead of a notch, which is an interactive cut-out at the top of the screen that shows live alerts and activities. Maybe next year?
- However, the display now uses Ceramic Shield 2 Protection. According to Apple, it's three times more scratch-resistant and offers reduced glare.
- You'll also get a more powerful A19 chip that's nearly identical to the one in the iPhone 17, though with slightly reduced graphics performance.
- Apple's budget device now comes with MagSafe support, making it compatible with wireless chargers, cases and other accessories.
- In addition to black and white, Apple has introduced a new soft pink colour.
- The screen refresh rate still sits at 60Hz and battery life remains unchanged. You can expect up to 26 hours of video playback.
Apart from all of this, you can also expect Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, and Find My via satellite.
