Hi, I have been granted Australian PR recently and going to migrate there from Thailand soon. I have my savings money in Thailand and would like to transfer it to bring it to Australia. The money is from my previous work with my ex-partner who is Thai and she was my employer and source of money. Please advise me on how to transfer the money and do I have to pay tax there? Thank you in advance

      Hi Mark,

I’m not aware of any specific tax laws for money transfers in Thailand. To get guidance on how it works and if taxes will be applied, we suggest that you reach out to the Revenue Department of the Ministry of Finance. You can get in touch with them through:

      Phone: +66 2 126-5800
      Email: webmaster-eng@mof.go.th

If you will be transferring large sums of money into Australia, you may check Finder’s guide for legal and tax requirements.

      I hope this helps.

      Best,
      Alison
