Other ways to save on travel insurance
A discount code isn't the only way to bring the price down. A few quick wins:
- Buy online. Travel agents and airlines often add a commission on top, so buying online is usually cheaper for the same cover.
- Adjust your excess. Agreeing to pay a higher excess if you claim will usually lower your premium.
- Consider annual multi-trip cover. If you travel more than a couple of times a year, one annual policy can work out cheaper than insuring each trip separately.
- Buy a joint or family policy. Covering a partner or family together is often cheaper than separate policies, and many insurers cover dependent kids for free.
- Don't over-insure. For a short domestic trip, a basic policy will often do the job, so you're not paying for cover you won't use.
