What does pet insurance cover for a new puppy or kitten?
How much you're covered for depends on the level you pick.
Accident-only is the cheapest, covering injuries but not illnesses. Accident and illness is the most common, adding cover for things like infections, cancers and skin conditions, where the bigger bills tend to come from.
Comprehensive sits at the top, and some policies let you add routine care to help with vaccinations, desexing and microchipping.
It's also worth noting that the younger and healthier your pet is when you take out cover, the better. Almost every pet insurance policy excludes pre-existing conditions, these are conditions your pet may develop prior to you taking out pet insurance.
By securing a policy as soon as you bring your pet home, you'll be giving them the best chance of having top to bottom protection.
