New Optus NBN plans could save you up to $420 – here’s how

Optus has ditched its 'Entertainer' NBN plans in favour of new bundling discounts and streaming credit.
Some quick context before we get into the juicy details.
Before 7 July 2025, Optus offered 'Entertainer' plans that included a free Standard Netflix subscription (worth $18.99 a month).
Those have now been scrapped.
So, what are the new Optus NBN plans offering?
All of Optus's unlimited data NBN plans now come with a bundling discount.
If you have an eligible Optus mobile or data plan (excluding prepaid and watch plans), you'll get $15 a month off for the first 12 months.
That's a total of $180 in savings over a year. You can bundle additional eligible plans to save even more.
On top of that, Optus is also giving $20 per month in streaming credit on two of its fastest plans via Optus SubHub.
This includes streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and Paramount Plus.
That's another $240 in savings over 12 months. Unlike the bundling discounts, the streaming credit will continue beyond the first year.
Here's a look at the plans:
| Plan | Original price | Bundling discounts / streaming perks | |
|---|---|---|---|
| NBN 25 | $79 a month | $64 a month for 12 months | |
| NBN 50 | $95 a month | $80 a month for 12 months | |
| NBN 100 | $99 a month | $84 a month for 12 months | |
| NBN 100 | $109 a month | $94 a month for 12 months plus $20 monthly streaming credit | |
| NBN 1000 | $129 a month | $114 a month for 12 months plus $20 monthly streaming credit |
What else has changed with Optus's NBN plans?
The telco giant has also scrapped its NBN 250 plan and improved the terms of its $0 modem offer.
Previously, you had to stay connected for 36 months to get it for free. The timeframe has dropped to 24 months.
It will also be offering faster speeds on its NBN 100 and NBN 1000 plans from September 2025 at no extra cost.
With the faster speed upgrades from NBN Co:
- Home Fast (NBN 100) will jump from 100/20Mbps to 500/50Mbps
- Home Ultrafast (NBN 1000) will double its upload speed, reaching up to 2000/100Mbps
You will just need to make sure that:
- You have a Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) or a Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) NBN connection. Pop in your address on Optus's website to find out.
- Your modem can support faster speeds (Optus should be able to help you out).
Should I sign up with Optus?
While the streaming perks are nice and the plans are now simpler, there's no doubt you'll be paying a premium price. Even with the bundling discounts in play.
