Key takeaways

  • Boost Mobile is the only small provider with full access to the Telstra network, and it's also owned by Telstra.
  • The provider's new 6-month plan costs $180 for 160GB - this includes a 60GB bonus data offer.
  • Based on its sign-up deal, the plan has a high Finder Score, which considers price, data allowance, network coverage and extra features such as data rollover.

Boost Mobile's older lineup included two 365-day prepaid plans, but there's now also a 186-day option for people who'd rather recharge every 6 months instead of once a year.

Here's a look at all 3 plans before we jump into more details on how the new plan stacks up.

How does the new Boost Mobile plan stack up?

The 6-month plan works out to around $30 a month for 27GB.

Features include:

  • 4G and 5G download speeds capped at 150Mbps
  • The option to rollover unused data when you recharge the plan before it expires
  • Unlimited international calls to 20 selected destinations, 3600 minutes to 30 selected destinations + 3600 texts to any country
  • Option to sign up with an eSIM if you have a compatible handset

As you can see, the new 6-month plan has a pretty high Finder Score.

However, it's worth keeping in mind that the sign-up bonus data offer has pushed the score higher.

Without it, you'd be paying $30 a month for around 17GB, which doesn't stack up as well.

The good news is that the offer is on until 10 August 2026, so you have some time to take advantage of it.

Is a long-expiry prepaid plan worth it?

Long-expiry prepaid plans are popular because you can set and forget your mobile plan for up to a year.

They can also work out cheaper than paying month-to-month, depending on which one you opt for.

That's likely why Boost Mobile's long-expiry plans are popular, especially given it's the only smaller provider with full access to the Telstra network.
