Did you know that the majority of Australians are overpaying on their health insurance? It comes down to one habit: not switching.

Finder's 2026 Health Report found 83% of people stayed with the same fund even after premiums rose by an average of 4.41% in April.

Switching funds is easier than most expect, plus a handful of funds are offering serious sign-up deals.

Here are the best health insurance deals available in September 2026.

Switching health funds is easier than you think

If you're put off by the hassle of switching health insurers, don't be. Switching is mostly handled by your new fund, and you won't lose any waiting periods you've already served, as long as you move to an equivalent level of cover.

Once you apply with the new fund online and give them permission to request your clearance certificate (which shows your cover history and the waiting periods you've served), your old policy is then usually cancelled automatically once the new fund has what it needs.
