Grand Theft Auto 6: Release date, download size and times on every NBN speed

Grand Theft Auto 6 lands on 19 November for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but you'll need up to 212GB of free storage to download it.
GTA 6 is almost here, and getting it onto your console is the first hurdle.
Rockstar has confirmed the game can need up to 212GB of storage, depending on your console.
That makes it one of the biggest downloads Aussie gamers have dealt with, with slower NBN speeds potentially adding hours to the wait.
When does the GTA 6 pre-load start in Australia?
You can start downloading GTA 6 before its official release through a process called pre-loading.
This means you can get the game onto your console ahead of time, so it's ready to play when it launches on 19 November.
Pre-loading starts on 10 November, giving you 9 days to get the download out of the way.
On PS5, pre-loading opens at midnight on 10 November. Xbox Series X/S players can start downloading from 11am AEDT.
If you're buying a physical copy, keep in mind it's a code-in-box edition rather than a disc. You'll find these in stores from 12 November, but you'll still need to redeem the code and download the game.
How long will GTA 6 take to download on my NBN plan?
As the table shows, download times will vary depending on your NBN speed. We've based these estimates on the full 212GB download and each speed tier's maximum speed.
| NBN speed tier | Time to download 212GB |
|---|---|
| NBN 12 | 39 hours, 15 minutes |
| NBN 25 | 18 hours, 51 minutes |
| NBN 50 | 9 hours, 25 minutes |
| NBN 100 | 4 hours, 43 minutes |
| NBN 500 | 57 minutes |
| NBN 1000 | 28 minutes |
| NBN 2000 | 14 minutes |
