The Finder Crypto Trading Platform Awards 2024 recognises the best crypto trading platforms in Australia. To determine the "best" crypto platforms for Australians, our experts analysed 12 months of data from 16 exchanges across more than 45 categories.
The highest-scoring platform for each category has been named the winner, followed by second and third place, which both receive highly commended.
Here are the winners for 2024.
Best Crypto Trading Platform – Overall
Kraken has won the top spot for our Overall award, based on its range of fees, features and trading tools. Its breadth of features includes staking, coin swaps, demo mode, competitive fees, spot markets and more. Kraken was Highly Commended in the Overall category in 2023, as well as being named a winner and runner up across a number of other categories in 2022 and 2023.

Coinbase Australia has come in Highly Commended for the Overall category, its first time placing in this category. The exchange has earned its spot after scoring highly for features such as its range of educational tools, coin swap offering, staking service, spot market and recurring buy options.
CoinSpot has again been named Highly Commended in the coveted Overall category, having received the same award in 2023. It made the shortlist thanks to its range of cryptocurrencies, trading and payment options, and educational resources.
Best Crypto Trading Platform – Beginners
Swyftx is our winner for this year's Beginner category. It received top scores for its range of beginner-friendly features including demo mode, educational tools, live chat and the high ratings the exchange has received from users.
Highly commendedKraken was also a top scorer for the Beginner category in this year's award. The exchange offers a number of beginner-friendly tools and features and also has a high app score rating from users.
A number of features saw Coinbase claim a Highly Commended nod, including its ratings among users, educational tools and the various contact methods it offers. Coinbase also took our Highly Commended for both the Advanced Trading and Extra Features categories in our 2023 awards.
Best Crypto Trading Platform - Value
CoinJar's affordable fee structure saw it take out the top spot in the Value category. It scored highly for its competitive maker and taker fees, bank transfer fees and instant buy fees.
Highly commended
Luno also scored highly, claiming Highly Commended in the Value category. Luno's competitive maker and taker fees and fees for its deposit method options saw it place well.
Gemini receives its first Highly Commended award due to its low maker and taker fees and zero fees on bank deposits and withdrawals.
Best Crypto Trading Platform - Altcoins
The large coin availability and competitive fees on offer has seen Coinstash take out top scores in our Altcoins category in this year's awards. The exchange also scored well for user ratings and the ability to swap coins.
Highly commended
Binance Australia has been named Highly Commended in the Altcoins category, making it a 3-year category run for the exchange. It won the category in 2022 and was named Highly Commended in 2023. For this year's awards, it scored highly for its coin availability, liquidity and availability of coin swaps among other features to support altcoin trading.
CoinSpot has been named Highly Commended for the second consecutive year, having scored highly in the Altcoins category in 2023 too. Its coin availability and competitive fees and features to support trading helped it score well.
Best Crypto Trading Platform – Extra Features
Kraken has been named the winner of the Extra Features category, after taking out Highly Commended in the same category in 2023. The exchange scored well across a number of data points including ratings by users, spot market availability, NFT marketplace availability and various other trading tools and features.
Highly commendedIn its second nod in this year's awards, Binance Australia has received Highly Commended in the Extra Features category. Its breadth of features offered to users helped it score highly in this category, including staking, its range of educational tools, spot markets and charting tools.
This is Coinbase's second year being awarded Highly Commended in this category in a well-deserved commendation. Various features helped the exchange score highly including its rating among users, spot market availability, charting tools and more.
Best Crypto Trading Platform – Advanced Trading
Kraken has taken out the top spot for the Advanced Trading category in this year's award, having also won in 2022 and taken home Highly Commended in 2023. Its sophisticated features saw it receive top scores, including its charting tools and competitive maker and taker fees.
Highly commendedBinance Australia continues its 3-year run in this category with a Highly Commended; the exchange was also named winner in 2023 and Highly Commended in 2022. Its user ratings, competitive fees and sophisticated tools helped carry on its reputation as an exchange for advanced trading.
For the second-year running, Coinbase Australia has been named Highly Commended for the Advanced Trading category. It scored highly along a variety of points including its competitive maker and taker fees, user ratings, trading and charting tools.
