I would like to set up wi fi in my house and do not have any phone lines. Who can I turn to arrange this as I would also like to have Netflix as well, I already have a router that I can use.
Hi Kaye,
If you would like to get the NBN you can head to our address checker to see if your residence can get it, then select a plan and the provider will go through details of what it might cost to get the NBN at your place: https://www.finder.com.au/nbn-tracker. Keep in mind, if the NBN is not at your residence, you may be charged a $300 new development fee. You would also need to check with them if the router you already have is suitable for your plan.
If there are no phone lines you can also look at getting an internet connection via home wireless internet or mobile broadband, which don’t require phone lines but allow you to connect to the internet via a mobile network.
You can read our guides to both of these to see if they will suit your needs:
https://www.finder.com.au/broadband-plans/home-wireless-broadband
https://www.finder.com.au/broadband-plans/mobile-broadband
Whichever plan you choose, you would need to check that it’s fast enough to stream Netflix and if it can cater to multiple people online at the same time.
Hope this helps.
