Revolut Business account review

  • Richard Whitten's headshot

Our verdict

Revolut Business is a multi-currency business account with strong international transfer features and tiered plans for different business needs.

Revolut Business is built for companies that deal with more than one currency, whether that's paying overseas suppliers, holding revenue from international customers or managing a team that spends across borders. It combines a business transaction account with multi-currency holding, corporate cards, expense management and payment acceptance tools in a single app, and its interbank-rate currency exchange could work out much cheaper than bank exchange rates.

The catch is that Revolut Business isn't technically a bank in Australia. It's issued by Revolut Payments Australia Pty Ltd under an AFSL and credit licence, not an ADI, so funds aren't covered by the government's Financial Claims Scheme in the way deposits at a bank are. There's also no free plan, although there are multiple pricing options depending on how many free international transfers, exchange allowances and features your business needs.

Pros

  • Exchange 25+ currencies at the interbank rate, within your plan's monthly allowance
  • Send transfers to 150+ countries, with local AUD account details (BSB and account number) as well as SWIFT/BIC details for receiving funds
  • Physical and virtual corporate cards you can issue to team members
  • Built-in expense management, analytics and accounting integrations
  • Fast online application – Revolut says most applications take around 10 minutes to submit
  • 24/7 customer support and a highly rated mobile app

Cons

  • Not a bank in Australia, so balances aren't protected by the government's Financial Claims Scheme
  • No free plan
  • Free international transfer and exchange allowances are limited on the cheaper plans
  • Charities, cooperatives and public sector entities aren't eligible
