We are a family of four, two older parents (60+) and two young adults (30+). We all use the internet for entertainment, gaming, I have an online business and a website, research (my husband and I are both teachers: me at university level, my husband at high school level. We need a reliable fast residential service that will allow us all to be on the internet at the same time with no buffering or drop out
Hi Carole,
If you aren’t downloading very large files on the regular for your business, an NBN 100 plan will be sufficient for your needs. These plans have a maximum download speed of 100Mbps, which is fast enough for gaming, streaming and data-heavy online research across multiple devices.
Another thing to look out for is upload speeds which is important for things like video conferencing, website management and online gaming. Some NBN 100 plans have maximum upload speeds of 40Mbps while others struggle to reach 15Mbps.
You can check the typical upload speeds in the table above by clicking on each plan’s View Details section. Good luck!
Looking for internet partner- that allows when we travel for five months a year, allows customers to suspend the service for that period.
Hi Mark, based on the providers in our database and to the best of our knowledge, Launtel is likely the only provider that lets you pause your service while you’re away. If its plans are outside your budget, another option is to cancel your plan before you travel and then sign up again when you return sine you will already have the modem and will only need to sign up to a plan online which can happen from wherever. Hope this helps!
I am currently with Skymesh but wish to go on NBN, will my Tenda router be usable on the NBN please?
Hi Billy, if you’re with SkyMesh already, you’re probably already on the NBN — either satellite, fixed wireless or fibre. Are you able to confirm which plan you are on and which one you wish to go to? I can help accordingly :)
Hi 👋 only 1 person usage
I DON’T understand anything about NBN. I’m a pensioner and only use evenings, scroll Facebook and lot, don’t know how to download and nit interested.
Can you PLEASE 🙏 help me change to a cheaper plan.
I’m with Belong and my plan is 50/ 15 (what ever that means 😂)
paying $88.00 per mth, friends say I’m wasting money.
Regards
Rona
Hi Rona! I fully appreciate the speeds can be confusing. It sounds like you’re on an NBN 50 plan with Belong and possibly overpaying based on your usage. An NBN 25 plan might be a better option. Some cheap plans in our database include Southern Phone NBN Basic ($45 a month for the first 12 months, then $59 a month ongoing), Flip ($39 a month for the first 4 months, then $59.90 a month ongoing), Moose NBN Value ($46.80 a month for the first 6 months, then $60.80 a month ongoing). You can compare all NBN 25 plans and offers here: https://www.finder.com.au/broadband-plans/nbn/compare-nbn-25-plans. Hope this helps!
I want to know do internet plans supply modem and are you charged monthly for modem or are they free
Hi Leonard, if you don’t have a modem, you’ll need to buy one from the provider. However, some providers offer a modem for $0 when you stay connected for a certain period, usually 12 to 24 months. These include Optus, Southern Phone, iiNet, and Telstra. Dodo also lets you spread the cost of the modem over 12 months. It costs $99.99.
You can compare plans and modem details in our table here: https://www.finder.com.au/broadband-plans. In the first column, you’ll see a green tick that shows your modem options. Hope this helps!
