First in class: finder Awards 2017 winners revealed

3 November 2017, Sydney, Australia – The winners of the finder Awards 2017 were revealed at a gala Sydney ceremony, attended by cutting edge start-ups and industry heavyweights last night.

The 20 best products were selected from over 6,000 offerings across credit cards, home loans, insurance and mobile phones.

Among the winners were McGrath Pink/Community First Low Interest Black Visa for Best Low Rate Credit Card and AMP Bett3r Account for Best Savings Account. Reduce Home Loans Rate Buster took out Best Home Loan (Owner Occupied - Variable), while Newcastle Permanent Building Society walked away with the Best Home Loan (Owner Occupied - 3-Year Fixed).

The product categories were introduced this year to recognise the best in market. The selection process was based on a custom-developed in-house methodology together with market expertise. Factors of consideration included value, key features and industry-specific metrics.

As well as recognising the best products on the market, the finder Awards applauded those businesses leading the way in innovation.

The seven Innovation Awards winners were decided after an extensive judging process in a range of industries from finance to technology, retail and travel. Judges included Lisa Montgomery, consumer finance specialist, Tim McIntyre, Editor at MoneySaver HQ and Nerida Conisbee, Chief Economist at realestate.com.au.

Spare change investment app Acorns took out the Best Personal Finance App, while pocket money fintech startup Spriggy were winners in two categories – Best Banking Innovation and Most Innovative Team.

Fred Schebesta, co-founder and director of finder.com.au, praised all the winners and finalists for raising the bar for all consumers.

“Our winners include entrepreneurs, start-ups and Australia’s top companies and showcase the best value and most groundbreaking products and innovations. I congratulate them for being progressive and putting consumers first,” he said.

“These are the 27 products and services that should be on every Australian’s radar.

“With new products being released across the country every day in a range of industries from finance to technology to retail and travel, it’s hard to cut through the noise.

“I hope these winners inspire more Australians to find better,” he said.
