It always makes sense to look for value in your everyday expenses. Here are some of the ways you can get better value in your health insurance.

Get started with ahm

1. Unused extras limit rollover

One of the most annoying things about paying for health insurance is running out of time to actually use it.

The good news is that it doesn't have to be this way.

ahm is choosing to roll over most unused extras annual limits on 1 July 2025.

This means that most of your unused extras limits from the prior financial year can still be used in the next financial year, starting 1 July. For those who take out an ahm extras cover before 30 June 2025, it could mean up to double the usual annual extras limits.

This offer is available to both existing members who retain their cover (or take out a new extras cover) and new members2.

All you need is to have an ahm extras cover on 30 June 2025.

Provided you have eligible unclaimed extras annual limits from the 2024/2025 financial year, they'll carry over to the new financial year.

Offers like this mean you don't need to miss out when it comes to using your extras.

You can find all of the fine print on the ahm website.

2. Flexible limits

ahm features flexi limits on their combined hospital and extra packages.

This means you're able to decide the best way to use your cover to suit your needs.

You're not locked into only having a set limit for specific types of extras services, you get one amount to use across all of your included extras services, so you can choose how to spend the limit.

In many cases, you're also able to combine this flexibility with the extras limit rollover, giving you a larger amount to use as you need across most of your extras next financial year.

3. Ambulance insurance

Really important fact alert!

Each state and territory provides ambulance services differently, and Medicare won't cover any of the costs.

Some ambulance costs may be waived in some states (for example, if you're a concession card holder) or not charged at all in other states.

For specific information, visit the ahm ambulance cover help page.

However, ahm does include unlimited emergency ambulance cover on all ahm extras covers and unlimited medically necessary ambulance cover on all hospital covers.3

Just note that there's a one-day waiting period and certain exclusions may apply. Check out the ahm website for more information.

4. Membership perks

With the right health insurer, you can get access to perks that can help you live a healthier lifestyle overall.

After all, the best health care is preventative!

Switching to ahm unlocks a range of membership perks, which currently include:

  • 2 for 1 movie tickets at HOYTS on Fridays4
  • A free 6-month membership to the National Pickleball League for eligible members (on eligible covers)5
