How long does ice cream last?

Ice creams have a "best before" date that you should follow. These dates indicate when your favourite dessert may start losing some of its taste and freshness. Most ice creams may still be eaten up to three months beyond the best before date. However, you should never eat a pack of ice cream beyond its shelf life – the length of time the ice cream is still safe to consume.

To keep ice cream fresh and delicious for longer, store it in the freezer once opened. Make sure that the container is tightly sealed to keep out moisture. Storing ice cream at the back of the freezer may also help extend its life.

To see if the ice cream is already spoilt, look closely at its top. Ice shards typically form on top of the ice cream when it has gone bad. Once your favourite dessert started developing an icy yet gooey texture, it's time to toss it out.
