How it works

If you have money held in Bitcoin, the Crypto.com Card allows it to be converted into the local currency.

The Crypto.com Card is also partnered with Visa. This means your crypto card is accepted almost everywhere.

You also don't have to worry about the traditional inconveniences of transferring cryptocurrency – like lengthy security codes or wrangling storage wallets.

So why opt for a crypto card specifically?

A number of these cards offer very competitive rewards, especially compared to traditional rewards offerings from the banks.

Let's look at Crypto.com's Level Up product as an example.

It's a tiered subscription service that unlocks access to a variety of card rewards.

There are three tiers – Plus, Pro and Private.

The Pro Level costs $49.99AUD per month, which equates to $599 annually.

This is a higher cost than some of the other credit cards on the market.

But it needs to be considered in conjunction with the rewards it offers.

To provide an example, let's say you spend $10,000 on a trip overseas.

You will receive $300 cashback in crypto and you will save roughly $300 in FX fees (the average FX rate charged by traditional credit cards when spending overseas is 3%).

These two perks alone can potentially cover the annual fee of the card.
