Dollar Saver Tip #19

Save: $516

Tip overview:

Supermarket prices have skyrocketed and unfortunately, they are likely to get higher over the next few months. But there is a way you can fight back…

I'm Sarah, one of Finder's in-house money experts. I've been making decent savings on my supermarket shop each month, after joining the Woolworths Everyday Extra program.

It's an extension to the Everyday Rewards program, and it costs $7 per month or $59 if you pay annually ($4.90 per month).

The major benefit is 10% off a grocery shop every month, up to a maximum discount of $50 every month. You get the same monthly discount offer at Big W, which came in handy when I was shopping for back-to-school supplies and saved around $25.

Did you know?

Finder research shows the average Aussie household spends $185 per week on groceries.

I've been using my discount on a shop worth around $300 every month – a discount of $30 each time, or around $360 for the year.

You also get triple points on every shop, so you can wrack up points towards a $10 discount Qantas frequent flyer boost even faster.

Even factoring in the membership price of $59 to 84, you're well ahead financially once the discounts come into play.
