Sustainability leaders invited to enter the Finder Green Awards

        • Entries have now opened for the Finder Green Awards 2021
        • 21 categories across energy, insurance, banking, travel, shopping, superannuation and telco
        • Submissions are free and close 8 April 2021

1 March 2021, Sydney, Australia – Entries have now opened for the Finder Green Awards, which celebrate businesses, brands and people that are leading the way when it comes to environmental sustainability.

Now in its second year, the Finder Green Awards uncover innovations in sustainability and recognise the best green options across a range of industries that Finder compares including energy, insurance, banking, travel, shopping, superannuation and telecommunications.

There are 21 categories open for entry which are judged on environmental metrics including greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy usage and waste avoiding landfill, as well as metrics specific to each category. Entering the awards is completely free and companies are encouraged to enter as many categories as relevant.

Ben King, CSR manager and sustainability expert at Finder, said the awards recognise the businesses and leaders striving to lessen their environmental impact.

"Our research shows consumers are looking for sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives, with more than four in five Australians (86%) taking steps to reduce their carbon footprint," he said.

"It can often be difficult to identify the most sustainable options in lots of these categories – we want to make it easier for Aussies to choose financial products and services that align with their values.

"After the success of last year's Green Awards we have added seven new categories to reflect the growing appetite from Australian consumers for innovation in the sustainability space."

New categories in 2021 include Green Fashion Brand of the Year, Green Supermarket of the Year and Green Ride Share of the Year, to name a few.

"We're seeing a number of companies make great progress. We wanted to add new categories to celebrate the advancements of those taking sustainability seriously."

Submissions are open as of today and entries will be accepted until 8 April 2021 with winners to be revealed in May 2021.

"The climate crisis is very real, and the businesses recognised in the Green Awards have an important role to play in creating a sustainable future."

"Well-informed and purpose-driven customers that vote with their dollars can have a hugely positive impact on the environment," King said.
