El Clasíco is one of the biggest matches in the world of football and draws enormous interest any time these great Spanish rivals lock horns.

For just the second time since 2004, a team other than Barcelona or Real Madrid took out the La Liga title in 2020/21, with Atletico Madrid pipping Real in a thrilling title race and Barca finishing third.

Regardless of ladder positions, El Clasíco will always be one of the biggest clashes in the sport. This is how you can tune in.

When is El Clasíco?

The first instalment of El Clasíco for the new campaign season kicks off at 1:15am AEDT on Monday 25 October at the Camp Nou in Barcelona. The match will kick-off with Madrid in third and Barca in the unfamiliar position of eighth after a difficult start for manager Ronald Koeman following the departure of Lionel Messi to PSG.

Who will win El Clasíco?

After Messi's dramatic off-season departure, having spent his entire career with Barcelona, it has been a dreadful start to 2021/22 by their standards. With 4 wins, 3 draws and a loss from 8 games, they are 5 points behind early frontrunners Real Sociedad. Couple that with 2 defeats from 3 Champions League appearances and the pressure is squarely on Koeman.

Real have 5 wins and a draw from their 8 league games to date to be 3 points off top spot with this game in hand. The Whites did lose their last league game 2-1 to Espanyol.

So who wins this one? Neither side is in sparkling form but we're leaning towards Real Madrid taking the points here in a tight, cagey affair.
