Negatives for The Book Depository Shopping

While there are so many great reasons to buy from this merchant you should note that some customers have complained about:

  • Delivery timeframes. shipping times can be lengthy, which may be a result of the carrier
  • Customer service. some users find it challenging to work with this merchant's customer care team if you experience a problem.
  • Gift Purchases. there doesn't appear to be a drop-shipping option for this merchant meaning that if you were buying a gift for someone and having it directly shipped, they would receive an invoice

About The Book Depository

The Book Depository was founded in 2004 by Andrew Crawford and Stuart Felton on the premise that they would offer "All Books Available to All". This philosophy resonates throughout the company who have an incredible 9 million titles available and have created their own re-publishing house, the imprint Dodo Press. In July of 2011, Amazon Inc announced that they had successfully negotiated to acquire The Book Depository. This has seen some improvements to the website functionality and its overall offering.

It says 20% off new titles in May 2016 when I find you in Google, but then click on the link and land on this page to be told free delivery if the offer? Ummm, that’s not an offer, that’s business as usual for them. How do i claim my 20% off new titles?

      Hello Tamara,

      Thanks for your question.

The 20% new titles refers to The Book Depository’s home page, where they have up to 50% bestsellers.

      Cheers,
      Clare

    Hello,
How do i obtain tracking or consignment number for order placed in March, dispatched in April but still not in possession of goods. I have emailed numerous time with no response. Very disappointed.

      Hi Aileen,

      Thanks for your question.

We aren’t The Book Depository, so can’t help you directly to find out where your package is. We would suggest the following: 1) Try logging into your The Book Depository account and check the status of your order. If your items still show as not being sent or delivered, you should still be able to get a refund as their rule is that you can return items within 30 days of delivery (and your items are yet to be delivered). 2) Check with your local post office and see if your items have been delivered there instead of to the delivery address. 3) Contact your credit card company (if you paid by credit card) and see if they’re able to help you. Often they’re able to help you get a refund if you haven’t received items you’ve paid for.

Hope that helps and that you’re able to get your items soon.

I don’t know how to get in touch with book depository, I ordered Don Piper’s 90minutes in heaven for a friend that just lost a loved one because the book helped me a lot when I lost my dad. Well I ordered the Leader and not the book itself. Need to know how to get my friend the proper book? Thanks for your help

Can you confirm the price of Casablanca, I want it on DVD and VHS please and thank you

    • Staff
      Alex | May 18, 2015

      Hi Martha,

Thanks for getting in touch. It looks like Casablanca is currently out of stock at The Book Depository. However, it looks like sites like Booktopia have it in stock for $10.50 plus shipping. They don’t currently stock VHS copies.

      I hope that helps.
