Common questions about Uber

Is Uber legal?

Uber can be legally used in the cities and from the airports listed above. Each city does have different transport laws around taxis and ride share services, however if it's listed as an official Uber city there's no issues in using the app there.

Does Uber take cash?

Uber recently allowed you to change the payment option to cash. If you use this option, the app on the driver's phone will display the total amount that you owe at the end of your trip.

Does Uber have car seats?

Some Ubers in select cities do have car seats, which can be selected at the time of ordering your Uber. However, most cars don't have car seats, so if you do require one it may be best to use another mode of transport.

Do Ubers take dogs?

All Ubers will allow you to take a service animal along with you.

If you're bringing a pet that isn't a service animal, it's up to the driver's discretion. It's best to contact your driver as soon as you've been assigned one to ask, and cancel it within the grace period if it's not permitted. Uber recommends if you do bring a pet to bring along a blanket or sheet for the animal to sit on so it doesn't shed in the car our of courtesy for the driver and future passengers.

Which credit cards can I use with Uber?

Uber accepts Mastercard, Visa and American Express. You can also attach your Uber account to Paypal.

Can I use my Melbourne Uber App in Sydney & other places?

    • Staff
      AnndyAugust 20, 2017Staff

      Hi Bert,

      Thanks for your question.

As a passenger, you can use your Uber app in any state or city where Uber operates. But as a driver, you can only use the app or work in the city where you have a license to drive from Uber.

      Cheers,
      Anndy

How do I book Uber to pick up a companion slightly off the direct route to our final destination?

    • Staff
      RenchJune 11, 2017Staff

      Hi Dawn,

Thanks for your inquiry. Please note that we are not affiliated with Uber or any company we feature on our site and so we can only offer you general advice.

With picking up a companion from slightly off your route with Uber, you can have this requested directly with the Uber driver once you book in a ride. You can select your main destination then request it with the driver that you’ll be picking up your companion that is just slightly off the route then continue with your destination. Only make sure that it is not out of the way because you will be needing to book a seperate ride for that.

      Hope this helps.

      Best regards,
      Rench

    Hi Kevin,

Thank you for reaching out. Just to confirm though, you have reached finder.com.au, not actually Uber.

In order for any promotional discount to be applied to a trip fare, you must enter the promo code before or during the trip. If you were unable to apply a promo code for this trip, you can contact Uber help directly.

    I hope this has helped.

    Cheers,
    Liezl

    HI,
Are there ubers available to take my family of 5 people to the airport or are ther only standard cars?
How would I ensure that a car will come that can take 5 passengers? I don’t want to be left stranded and miss our plane?

    • Staff
      ArnoldApril 13, 2017Staff

      Hi Kierstan,

      Thanks for your inquiry.

Normally, the capacity of a standard Uber car is 4 plus the driver but it varies among drivers. For example, 5 people with light luggage might be accommodated by the standard car but as I said, it depends on the driver. To be sure you’ll catch your flight. Please click here and check out Uber SUX and Uber LUX. These cars are bigger and more spacious and will surely accommodate your family.

      Hope this information helped.

      Cheers,
      Arnold

      Hi DM,

      Thanks for your question.

It seems that you may no longer be able to delete the US promo code you entered. Usually, the promo code can be used by the time you’re creating an Uber account.

Do you have service from Sidney International airport to Watsons Bay at around 11pm?

    • Staff
      AnndyNovember 29, 2016Staff

      Hi Beth,

      Thanks for your question.

Uber is a ride-on- demand service with 24/7 reliability at Sydney Airport. You will need to request the ride the moment that you require it so an Uber provider in the area will then pick up the request and make their way to you.

      Cheers,
