You can pay a $99 deposit on your flights and pay the remaining balance up to eight weeks before your departure date. There is a $10 fee to put a flight on layby, which will be deducted when the balance is paid.
Layby flights are available on flights with more than 60 airlines and select round-the-world tickets, but a some may only be available to under 30s, full-time students and teachers.
Fares eligible for layby will have a small green symbol with a dollar sign inside of it when you're searching. If you'd like to put a flight on layby, you'll need to do so over the phone as they can't be booked online.
After your booking has been made, STA Travel will send you a confirmation email with your booking details within 24 hours. If you do not receive an email within that time, you should contact their customer service team. For most of their bookings your tickets will also be emailed to you, or any hotel reservations, so don’t worry about having anything delivered or mailed. It is usually handy for you to print your email confirmation or electronic ticket and take a copy with you to the airport or hotel of your booking.
If the terms on your ticket permit changes, you can request changes to electronic tickets on STA's site by visiting the existing bookings section and follow the prompts.
If you have a MultiFLEX round-the-world ticket, you can contact STA's customer support (available 24/7) to make any changes to your booking.
To book a multi-city itinerary, you can select the "Multi-City" option on the flight booking engine that should appear above the destination fields. Clicking this will bring you to an advanced search page where you'll need to select "Multi-City" again". Next, choose how many flights you'll need to take. (You can book up to four). Enter in all your flight details and click search.
While STA Travel has a dedicated STA Travel section on it's website, most tickets can't be booked online. It does offer a trip planner and lists available routes. There will be a button that says whether you can complete your booking online, or if you'll need to call.
STA Travel can assist with both tourist and work visas, but it does charge a processing fee that is added on top of the embassy's fee.
Since STA Travel doesn't own the airlines, baggage inclusions are at the airline's description. Most full-service airlines (like Qantas, Singapore Airlines and British Airways) will include baggage in the initial ticket price. Low-cost carriers (like Jetstar, Tigerair and AirAsia) do not include bags.
It is possible to cancel your booking, however, you will almost certainly pay a portion of your total amount as a fee. This will vary depending on your booking. Contact the STA Travel customer service team for full information on your booking.
finder.com.au is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We compare from a wide set of major banks, insurers and product issuers.
finder.com.au has access to track details from the product issuers listed on our sites. Although we provide information on the products offered by a wide range of issuers, we don't cover every available product. You should consider whether the products featured on our site are appropriate for your needs and seek independent advice if you have any questions.
Products marked as 'Promoted' or "Advertisement" are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options and find the best option for you.
The identification of a group of products, as 'Top' or 'Best' is a reflection of user preferences based on current website data. On a regular basis, analytics drive the creation of a list of popular products. Where these products are grouped, they appear in no particular order.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labelling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
Providing or obtaining an estimated insurance quote through us does not guarantee you can get the insurance. Acceptance by insurance companies is based on things like occupation, health and lifestyle. By providing you with the ability to apply for a credit card or loan we are not guaranteeing that your application will be approved. Your application for credit products is subject to the Provider's terms and conditions as well as their application and lending criteria.
