How to stand up on a SUP

Are you new to stand-up paddle boarding? Your first time should be in calm, flat water, using a wide board. If at any stage you feel unstable, it probably means you need a bigger board.

  • Start in a kneeling position and take a few strokes to get used to what the feeling is like.
  • Slowly stand up, one foot at a time, and ensure you're in the middle of the board, standing shoulder-width apart.
  • Keep a slight bend in the knees and a tight core, centering yourself over the board.
  • Have fun!
