Blizzard will reveal a new map and an animated short for Overwatch at Gamescom

The Blizzard Reveal Ceremony will also feature new announcements for Hearthstone, World of Warcraft and StarCraft II.

Blizzard has today revealed its plans for next week's Gamescom convention, and fans of Overwatch have a lot to be excited about. A brand new map will make its debut in Blizzard's preview stream taking place at 2:00AM Tuesday 22 August AEST on Blizzard's YouTube channel, with Gamescom attendees able to take the map for a spin when the show kicks off.

At 2:00AM Thursday 24 August, Blizzard will ramp things up with the Blizzard Reveal Ceremony, showing off a new Overwatch animated short along with other surprise announcements for the rest of the studio's games. The Reveal ceremony will be live-streamed on Blizzard's Gamescom website.

Outside of Overwatch, Blizzard will be hosting the Hearthstone Global Games Finals and the World of Warcraft European Championship Finals during Gamescom, with both events streamed on their game's respective Twitch channels.

Blizzard has been a busy bee lately, releasing an HD remaster of its lauded StarCraft RTS and announcing the return of the Battle.net name.
