How to cancel Stan: A step-by-step guide

Looking to take a streaming sabbatical? Cancelling your Stan account might seem like a headache but it's actually a short, painless process.

Local Netflix rival Stan offers a lot of bang for your buck and it's honestly one of the best value propositions on the Australian streaming market. With that said, TV shows and movies come and go every single day and while it's rare, we all find ourselves with nothing to watch every once in a while. If you do find yourself at the bottom of Stan's library with nothing left to stream, cancelling your account is a relatively painless process.

Follow the steps we've outlined below to pull the plug on Stan.

Step 1: Log in to Stan

Head to Stan's official website on your computer and log in with the username and password you normally use to access Stan's content. In the top-right corner of your screen, click the user icon that says "Hi, [Username]".

Step 2: Manage account

Click Manage Account in the dropdown. On the account management page, under the Account tab, scroll down to the Subscription Information section.

Step 3: Cancel your account

There you'll see all the details of your current plan (plan name, monthly cost and payment method). Underneath your plan details, click the black button that says "Cancel my subscription".

Step 4: Confirm cancellation and cut-off date

You will be taken to a confirmation page that gives you the cut-off date for your service. For example, if you've already paid for your next month, your service will remain active until the end of the billing month (even after cancelling).

If you're confident you would like to cancel, confirm by clicking the Continue to cancel button.

What's next?

So you've cancelled Stan. Where to next? Firstly, we'd suggest keeping an eye on new content added to Stan in case you want to restart your subscription at any stage. Secondly, why not compare streaming services in Australia and take advantage of some of the free trials on offer. We've compared every streaming service in Australia below but if you'd like to know more about your alternatives, head over to our comprehensive guide for TV streaming in Australia.
