2007 was a year steeped in ground-breaking first-person shooters. Not only did we get the thought-provoking narrative of BioShock and the mind-bending puzzles of Portal, we saw Call of Duty completely reshape the genre with the release of Modern Warfare. From the debut of multiplayer killstreaks to the spectacle of its campaign's scripted story, Modern Warfare became the template de jour that competitive shooters have been building upon to this day.

While Call of Duty has advanced its war-faring in the decade since Modern Warfare, the game is still considered by many to be a high point the series has failed to top. Fans have been clamouring for a remaster for years, and Activision finally obliged them last year--well, sort of. By bundling Modern Warfare Remastered in with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare rather than selling it on its own, the publisher managed to tick off a whole lot of people who really didn't like the idea of Call of Duty in space.

Thankfully, this week sees Activision caving once again: Modern Warfare Remastered (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC) is going standalone. Patient gamers rejoice! The only downside is the game's steep RRP of $69.95, but we've got a solution for that: we've tracked down the best deals on Modern Warfare Remastered in Australia up above.
