Say Konnichiwa with Virgin Australia’s cheap $699 flights to Japan
It's time to get amongst Tokyo's cherry blossoms.
If Mount Fuji is on your wishlist then Virgin Australia's latest deal is a must.
You can score airfares starting from $699 return to Tokyo (Haneda) from Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns and Sydney. Flights that are taking off from Melbourne to Tokyo start from $799 and Perth to Tokyo from $899 return.
The option is yours to travel from 29 April to 17 June 2020, 28 July to 9 September 2020 or 28 July to 10 September 2020. If you want to catch the cherry blossoms book during April when they're in full bloom but do keep in mind this is peak season.
The good news continues if you're a student or under 26, with flights starting from $589 return with STA Travel.
If you're after luxury in the air, business class is also on sale to Tokyo. Fly from Adelaide, Cairns, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney from $3,499 or Perth from $3,899 return.
This one doesn't require a lot of convincing, head over to Virgin Australia or Flight Centre to lock in your fares.

How good are these fares?
- Price: Great. You can normally find a good deal to Tokyo on a full-service flight at around the $900 mark with full-price fares exceeding $1,000 return. These flights come in at a possible $300 saving on your return flight.
- Airline: Great. Virgin Australia is a full-service carrier that strives for excellence in the air. Your airfares include checked baggage, in-flight meals and entertainment.
- Frequent flyer points: Great. Velocity Frequent Flyer members can earn 5 points for every $1 spent. By the numbers, that's a minimum of 3,495 points earned from the cheapest return fare.
- Travel time: Good. Most of these airfares aren't direct as they fly via Brisbane and then on to Tokyo. If you live in Brisbane you get to fly direct.
- Weather: Great. No matter when you book with this sale, the travel dates give you the option to travel to Tokyo during April to May and September as this is when temperatures are at their most ideal. With cool and dry weather you can enjoy off-season crowds.
