Huawei P9: Specs

Huawei may be the third-biggest smartphone brand in the world these days, but it didn't climb its way there by playing in the premium smartphone market. The launch of the P9 shows just how far the Chinese manufacturer has come, including not just top-of-the-line hardware inside the P9's elegantly crafted body, but also partnering with Leica to offer a unique take on smartphone photography thanks to the dual lens system.

Huawei P9: Buy outright

Huawei managed to launch the P9 – a flagship by any other manufacturer's standards – at the surprisingly low RRP of $799. There are some obvious compromises to enable that price point, but for the end user the device doesn't seem like it is cheap.

Huawei P9: Review

The key selling point for the P9 is definitely the dual Leica camera setup, which combines colour and black and white shots for crisper images.

"The Huawei P9 will more than satisfy those who want a premium smartphone experience, but don't want to take out a second mortgage to fund a fancy new gadget. For all its pros, the P9's shortcomings are relatively minor, especially considering that attractive price tag."

The processor isn't the most powerful on the market, but performs impressively for multi-core applications. The P9's massive 5.2-inch screen won't suit everyone either.
