If you want smooth, hydrated and nourished skin, you need to try Youthquake from Marc Jacobs Beauty.

Why we love this product

We love Marc Jacobs Beauty for the range of sleek, sexy and sophisticated products. Makeup lines, like the Coconut collection, have quickly become some of our absolute favourites. But, what about skincare? The first skincare product to come from the beauty brand is the Youthquake Retexturizing Moisturiser. We put it to the test and this is what we thought.

The quick verdict

Why is it good? This multi-tasking moisturiser provides you with a gorgeous glow.

How much is it? $78 for 50mL.

Where to buy it? Sephora.

The Marc Jacobs Beauty Youthquake promises to provide you with a super-glowy base. It's a multi-tasking moisturiser, delivering the perfect combination of moisturising and retexturising results. It's powered with 54% of pineapple enzymes and 5% of sodium hyaluronate. But what does that mean? The enzymes smooth away rough texture, prepping the base for ultimate hydration.

That's exactly what this moisturiser does. My skin looked and felt so good. It was hydrated, nourished and it felt really smooth to the touch. In my skincare routine, I tend to use texture-specific products like AHA's and lactic acid – so adding the Youthquake to my routine really helped all the other serums do their job and it sped up the process.

There are also heaps of antioxidants in this moisturiser, thanks to starfruit and dragonfruit extracts. This fabulous combination of everything made my overall complexion smooth, plump and nourished.

My skincare routine usually consists of a morning and night-time moisturiser. They have a different purpose, delivering different results depending on what I need. I really loved the fact that the Youthquake can be used morning and night. In the morning, it's a great prep before makeup and the scent really peps up the skin. However, at night, it works to lock in all my serums, giving me a gorgeous glow.

I really love the formulation of this moisturiser. It's a hybrid of a gel-creme, and I've never used something like it before. Applying it on the skin is really therapeutic – it's super smoothing and melts into the skin effortlessly.

Arriving in a pale yellow colour, the Youthquake smells absolutely amazing. The pineapple enzymes really power through the formula, and it smells very tropical, kind of like citrus. It's really refreshing in the morning but not too overpowering at night.

According to Marc Jacobs Beauty, Youthquake is most suited for normal to dry skin. I don't think this is necessarily true. The formula doesn't feel oily, so I think people with oily skin can also really enjoy this moisturiser.

Affordability

For a full-sized tub of the Marc Jacobs Beauty Youthquake, it will set you back $78. The price is definitely on the high-end side, so if you're looking for something affordable, there are plenty of other options on the market. You can check out our round-up of the best moisturisers here.

Would I buy it again? If I'm in the mood to splurge, then sure. But it's not a permanent addition to my skincare routine. Other options, that are cheaper, can give you the same effect.
