South Sydney Rabbitohs are arguably the most storied team in the NRL competition, and are one of only two founding teams left in rugby league. Souths also hold the record for the most competition victories, at 21. Other names the team is known by include the Bunnies, the Rabbits and the Pride of the League. However, the team is best known by fans simply as Souths.

In 2019, the Rabbitohs will look to add to their historic tally of rugby league premierships and win their first title since 2014 – although no victory will be as sweet as that title. It was then that South Sydney – led by a performance from Sam Burgess that will be forever remembered in NRL folklore – broke a 43-year drought defeating the Canterbury Bulldogs in the grand final.

This year sees the Redfern-based team playing its home games yet again at ANZ Stadium in front of a group of fans known as "the burrow". The Pride of the League boast the Burgess brothers, who are led by brother Sam, the Clive Churchill Medal winner from the 2014 grand final. Then there's the incumbent NSW State of Origin player, Australian Kangaroo and reigning Dally M hooker of the year, Damien Cook.

Wayne Bennett is at the helm as the mastermind of the team, in his first year in charge of the Bunnies. This super coach is out to equal the record of eight premierships won by a head coach.

The team is loaded with quality Souths juniors, including captain John Sutton, Cameron Murray, Adam Reynolds and Alex Johnston, alongside State of Origin players Dane Gagai and James Roberts.

Best value-for-money NRL coverage: Kayo Sports

Kayo Sports is a digital streaming platform that has access to the 14 best channels on Foxtel, including all of the Fox League programming. As well as the eight Fox Sports channels, you have ESPN, beIN Sports and content, too. Subscribers to Kayo Sports are able to live stream every game of the 2019 NRL Telstra Premiership, as well as watch full match replays, game highlights, news and entertainment programming, and Kayo Minis. Kayo will also be airing all NRL Final Series matches live.

In addition to the Telstra Premiership, Kayo Sports subscribers can stream internationals, NRLW and rep round games. It must be noted that the grand final and State of Origin series aren't available live on Kayo, as they're exclusive to Channel 9 on free-to-air TV. However, Kayo will have full replays of the game available on-demand.

Kayo Sports also offers more viewing features than any other service. These are perfectly designed for the Aussie sports fan and include SplitView (four sports playing on one screen at once), alternate cameras to choose from, the option to hide scores, a Key Moments timeline so you can jump straight to the tries, a game day hub page and heaps more. You can read our full review of Kayo Sports for more information.

If you were to compare the cost against the amount of content available, Kayo Sports delivers the most extensive South Sydney Rabbitohs coverage available. Subscriptions are available in two varieties: $25/month to run on two screens/devices at a time or $35/month for three screens/devices at once. Plus, a subscription gives you more than just the NRL. You get access to more than 50 other live sports.

Kayo offers HD live streams and is compatible with several network devices including desktop computers, smartphones, laptops, Chromecast, Apple TV, Android TV and Telstra TV.

In even better news, we have a 14-day free trial for you to enjoy.

How to watch South Sydney Rabbitohs games in 4K: Foxtel IQ

The Foxtel IQ Sports Pack is available as a premium addition to a standard Foxtel IQ subscription and offers the same rugby league content as Kayo Sports. However, as it's a premium pack, what does that mean? You must already have the Essentials pack and also an HD pack before you can get the Sports Pack. This brings the total price of the subscription to around $68/month, depending on whether there are any deals going at the time, plus potential installation fees.

The big positive is that subscribers do have access to the IQ4 set-top box. This is the only way to watch NRL games in 4K, which is quite a sight. It's worth noting that you're not locked to your TV either, as subscriptions come with free access to the Foxtel GO app. This Foxtel app allows you to stream NRL games to your digital device, through the Foxtel website or even your smartwatch.

The best mix of NRL and general content: Foxtel Now

If installing a set-top box in the house isn't really your thing, but you want to access non-sports content as well as South Sydney Rabbitohs games, then Foxtel Now is best suited to you. It costs $54/month and doesn't come with Kayo's cool viewing features. On the plus side, if you are after something that offers a hybrid of both Kayo Sports content and pop/lifestyle programming, Foxtel Now fulfils that need.

Foxtel Now is compatible with desktop computers, laptops, smartphones and tablets. It's also compatible with your PS4, Chromecast, Apple AirPlay, Telstra TV, Sony Android TV and the Foxtel Now Box. New subscribers can also get a 10-day free trial.

Live stream Souths ruby league matches: NRL Live Pass

The NRL Live app is the NRL's own digital streaming service. The app is available to download free from the Android, Apple and Microsoft mobile application stores. NRL Live provide users with access to live scores, stats, highlights, news and exclusive NRL reports for free. Updates happen live in the application as the game is being played.

In order to receive access to the full NRL Live experience, though, you'll have to subscribe to an NRL Live Pass. Once subscribed, you will have full capability to live stream all Telstra Premiership matches, including representative games, the NRL Finals Series, as well as special events on the NRL calendar such as the Nines tournament and All-Stars games. If you're looking for your favourite try or play, NRL Live Pass has over 400 games from 2013 onwards available on-demand.

Live streams of the NRL grand final and State of Origin series are not available on the NRL Live Pass, but full match replays are made available after the completion of the match.

There are two subscription offerings for an NRL Live Pass: the Weekly Pass option will cost you $3.99/week while the Annual Pass will cost you $99.99. However, Telstra Mobile customers are eligible for a full NRL Live Pass for the 2019 season for free, if they meet the set criteria.

To activate your free offer, you need to log into the NRL Live app from your Telstra mobile device, click the "I'm a Telstra customer" button and follow the prompts. NRL Live is compatible with iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices that have a screen less than seven inches in size, as well as laptops.

Can I watch South Sydney Rabbitohs games on free-to-air TV?

Channel 9 provides three games per regular round of footy, which may or may not include a Rabbitohs match. This includes Thursday night football, one Friday evening football matchup and a Sunday afternoon game.

Channel 9 also broadcasts every game of the premiership Finals Series live, which also includes the grand final held on the first Sunday of October.
