Who knew a foundation could look so natural and luminous?
Why we love this product
Finding the perfect foundation is a mission. We all prefer different finishes and different levels of coverage. Personally, I like a lot of coverage from my foundation but I still want it to look like skin. Zoeva Cosmetics recently launched the Authentik Skin foundation, promising to look and feel natural and luminous. It arrives in a total of 44 shades, which I think is great for a first foundation launch. This is the first complexion product to ever come from the brand, so I cannot wait to see what else is to come. Could it be my new favourite foundation? I put it to the test.
The quick verdict
Why is it good? Zoeva's Authentik Skin foundation feels and looks like your skin, but better.
How much is it? $50
Where to buy it? Sephora
The Zoeva Authetik Skin foundation is formulated with rosehip oil in order to give the skin a gorgeous glow. It's a liquid foundation, and it promises to deliver medium yet buildable coverage with a natural and luminous finish. The brand's foundation range is made in Italy, and this explains why it's super luxurious. Not only is the formula amazing, but it also arrives in a fancy glass bottle and it looks really pretty on my makeup stand.
If you're looking for a natural and weightless foundation with great lasting power, this is the one for you. I hate touching up my makeup throughout the day, so I love that you don't need to with this foundation. I am also absolutely obsessed with the innovative lightweight formula. It doesn't feel heavy and cakey, so you can easily wear it on a day-to-day basis. But, it still looks great enough to wear on a special occasion.
Why rosehip oil? This magic ingredient is super nourishing and helps the foundation glide on the skin effortlessly. That's one thing I really love about this product – it is so easy to apply and feels silky smooth on the skin. The rosehip oil provides luminosity, while still allowing your skin's natural glow to shine through.
In the photos below, I am not wearing any primer or highlighter. It's just the Authentik Skin foundation, with some setting powder and cream bronzer – no highlighter ladies and gents! You can see the glow from my skin and I am obsessed with the finish. Sure, I love sporting a glittery highlighter but if this foundation means I have to use one less makeup product, then I'm very happy with that.

When it comes to applying this foundation, I prefer a brush over a sponge. Usually you would use a beauty sponge to get a more natural finish, but it's not really needed with this product. A brush works perfectly, blending it into the skin is effortless. I actually use the Zoeva 104 Buffer brush and you can pick it up from Sephora here if you're interested.
The Zoeva brand is built around empowering women and championing one's self. The Authentik Skin foundation is a true reflection of that mantra. Each of the shades is named with a positive affirmation and it's meant to inspire. I really love this idea – it's really easy to remember your shade name but it also puts a smile on your face.
As mentioned, there are 44 shades and I believe they are all really inclusive. There's a range of warm, cool and neutral undertones so you should be able to find your match easily. My skin tone is generally light with neutral undertones. For reference, the shade I use is called Beautiful.
Will this foundation work for you? The Authentik Skin foundation is radiant and luminous, so if that's not your vibe, I don't recommend this product. However, if you want to glow and love a natural finish, you need to pick this baby up immediately!
This foundation will set you back $50 and I think it's a reasonable price to pay. Other foundations at Sephora will cost you upwards of $70. And sure, you can always walk into Priceline and pick one up for $20. I think the Authentik Skin foundation sits at a great mid-range price – perfect if you want to spend a bit more cash, but not your entire pay cheque. I will definitely be repurchasing it again and again.
