Cheap flights to Copenhagen
Fares start from $812 to Copenhagen when departing from Melbourne in early November. This is the off-season and is when the weather starts to turn, though on the upside, it's also when the Northern Lights start to shine in the area and if you're lucky you could be blessed with seeing the natural phenomenon as it sweeps the northern skies.
Flights to Copenhagen from Sydney start from $832 return and from Brisbane at $833 return. They're all operated by Air China and include a mandatory stopover in Beijing, which Australians can use to get out and see the city due to a 24-hour transit visa agreement.
The price might be right but a word of warning: the travel time is quite extensive due to this layover, averaging 42 hours from Melbourne. This is nine hours longer than the fastest route found on Skyscanner, which is with Singapore Airlines though at an added cost of $242.
Cheap flights to Oslo
Flights to Oslo are more expensive than those into Copenhagen with the cheapest seats departing from Perth at $898 on Thai Airways. These are also the fastest flights you can get into the city, averaging 20 hours, giving them that edge over the Copenhagen flights.
Travel is also during November which, again, is off-peak though a grand time to catch the Northern Lights.
Other sample fares on Thai Airways coming up under $1,000 include Sydney to Oslo from $949, Melbourne to Oslo from $970 and Brisbane to Oslo from $985 return.
On top of the perfect price-point, most of these are the fastest way to Oslo from Australia, so it's a win-win for you.
